Madras Lawyers protest against Disciplinary Rules

Lawyers from more than 135 Bar Associations in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have participated in a rally organised by Madras High Court Advocates' Association in Chennai, demanding the withdrawal of new Amendments introduced by Madras High Court in the Disciplinary Rules under Advocates Act.

SC stays Gujarat HC order issuing notices to 27 sitting, former judges

The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed a Gujarat High Court order, issuing notices to 27 of its sitting and former judges over allotment of government plots to them. A bench led by Chief Justice HL Dattu also issued notices to the Gujarat government and Registrar of Cooperative Societies. A bench of the Gujarat High Court, led by outgoing acting Chief Justice VM Sahai, had on Monday issued notices to 27 judges, seeking their replies on the 2008 allotment of residential plots.
